When feeling overwhelmed with stress and life, here are top recommended tips for managing your feelings.
1. INTRODUCE A CALMING MORNING ROUTINE:Having a good morning routine is key! Try waking up 15 minutes before your kids wake up. If you can wake up an hour earlier, that's a bonus. I promise it will be a complete game changer for you. Use that time to meditate - Chana recommended 'Insight Timer' app to me. Try writing out a mantra and read it out to yourself. Try journaling! You can either write your feelings out or use this time to write down the things that you are grateful for in your life. Set your intention for the day - even Oprah does this!
2. PRIORITIZE:Write out your daily to do list. Choose 3 top items that are most important to you. Try to shift your perspective in order to see things through a new lens. Have self-compassion - this is a “NEW” normal - none of us has ever done this before. Ask yourself what you can do to feel calm in this moment. What do you need to accomplish your three goals for the day? Then, make sure to celebrate your wins! Each win you add to your list will make you more motivated to get things done! We often forget to celebrate how far we have come and only focus on what we haven’t accomplished! We are so hard on ourselves, so please, give yourself some recognition for your fabulousness!
3. ALONE TIME: One thing we all need is white space in our calendars! Set aside at least 10 minutes per day to be by yourself and ensure it’s scheduled into your calendar! If you can, take a hot bath, exercise, read a book or meditate. Make sure to schedule this time in your day so that you have some alone time!
4. PRODUCTIVITY:We know you have heard this before, but let’s review it again; it’s really important to break your big goals into small, achievable goals so that you can celebrate your wins along the way! For daily tasks, try to work in 45 minute increments with 15 minute breaks in between. Ensuring that you work on one thing at a time will help you feel less frazzled!
5. CARRYING THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD: Remember to BREATHE! Come up with a mantra like, “We are safe & everyone is healthy, I live in the present moment”. If the news leaves you feeling agitated, don’t watch it! If you want to stay informed, try limiting yourself to watching or reading the news only once per day - avoid it before bed or first thing in the morning. Unplug yourself from social media. You will thank me later.
